How we do it.
Most removals we do around Portland and Taft are trees that grew too close to something: a live oak with limbs over the roof, a mesquite leaning over the fence line, a dead palm that drops fronds on the car. When a tree like that has to come out, it rarely has room to fall in one piece.
So we take it down in sections. The bucket truck or the spider lift puts a man above the tree, limbs come down one at a time, and the trunk comes down last in pieces short enough to control. Everything goes through the chipper or onto the truck before we leave.
We do this work in Portland, Taft, Gregory, Sinton, Odem, Calallen, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Woodsboro, Corpus Christi, plus Refugio. Free estimates everywhere we go.

Questions
Answers before you call.
Do you grind the stump too?
We can. Stump grinding is a separate line on the estimate, and most customers have it done the same day as the removal.
Can you get a tree out of a fenced backyard?
Usually, yes. The spider lift is narrow enough for most gates, and anything we cut gets carried or chipped out the same way.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. Miller or the office comes out, looks at the tree and gives you a price. No charge and no pressure.
Are you insured?
Yes, M&S Tree Service is insured and bonded.
How do I know if a tree needs to come down?
Dead or mostly dead trees, trees leaning toward the house, split trunks, big cavities, roots lifting the ground, and trees growing into the foundation are the usual reasons. Sometimes a good trim is enough. We'll tell you which on the free estimate.
Can you remove a tree next to my house or fence?
Yes. Trees close to houses, fences and power drops are taken down in sections from the bucket truck or spider lift, so each piece is lowered instead of dropped.
Do I need to be home for the removal?
Not always. If we can reach the tree and you've signed off on the estimate, many jobs can be done while you're at work. We'll go over it when we set the day.
Do you remove palm trees too?
Yes. See our palm tree page for trimming and removal of tall fan palms.
